Updates and improvements in some features of SketchUp 2019

2019-10-18

Professional production improvements

EXPORT OF IMAGES

The export of 2D graphics, raster files and animations has been improved.

Now you can control the overall line thickness of the exported images with the new line scale multiplier, which you will find in the export options dialog box.

Before this change, the line thicknesses remained the same as in the graphics window, which made this thickness too small or too large. Now, if you think the line thicknesses are too thick, you can make them thinner.

In addition, the .png images are now exported with their transparency so you can see what's behind the material during the composition.

CUSTOMIZABLE UNIT SETTINGS

Have you ever needed to use different units of measure for the same model?

Now you can customize your model to show different units of measure for area and volume.

For example, in a model of a room, you can use millimeters for the wall and meters for the volume.
The types of units of measure available are: millimeters, centimeters, meters, inches and feet.

Workflow improvements

INVERT SELECTION

Small details are what make the difference and help your workflow.
This new feature will allow you to select anything and then reverse the selection of objects.
This novelty simplifies the selection of elements to be able to act later on its inverse. The keyboard shortcut to invert selection is: CTRL + SHIFT + I (Windows) or CMD + SHIFT + I (Mac).

FILE IMPORT

The days when you had to choose the import file format from a long list are over. Now you can drag and drop ALL supported file types directly into your modeling window . You can see by default all compatible file types available for import.

In addition to this, DWG and DXF importers now bring the cleanest geometry.

DRAFT TOOL

Have you ever accidentally erased your model too much? To make your work with the details more detailed and more smooth, the ALT and CMD modifier keys have been added, which will help you eliminate any unnecessarily highlighted lines that you may have accidentally added while deleting

 SECTION PLANS

Do you want to section a model to be able to look inside? With the new SketchUp update you can do it even more smoothly: now it will ask you to name the section plans before placing them in the model .

SEND TO LAYOUT

Now you can send your models directly to LayOut from the large toolset on the toolbar on the left . If you've never used LayOut for 2D drawings, it's the best time to start. Take advantage of it!

IMPORTS OF LARGE AREAS TO ADD LOCATION

The new SketchUp update allows you to easily import large sites at full resolution. How can you enjoy this new feature? Just get away a little and then choose the level from which you want to import. Keep in mind that misuse of this function can adversely affect performance in your SketchUp model.

ISOMETRIC DIMENSIONS

Now you can make linear dimensions align with an isometric view . This improvement is impressive! Isometric drawing is the primary type of drawing in LayOut and this update makes it easier: now you can control extension lines, separation distance and align dimensions with isometric angles.

 AUTOMATIC TEXT

As in the "smart tags", you can now add text to the dimensions without breaking the automatic measurement . Imagine, for example, that you want to create a wall dimension: now you can dimension a wall, add the word “wall” and the dimension measurement will be updated if the measurement of the wall changes.

Workflow improvements

ROTATING LIMITATIONS

Now, when you rotate your model, the dimension box is also rotated so you can continue climbing in the correct orientation.

FASTER EDITION

Consistent with the ease of use of SketchUp, in LayOut you can now press ENTER to edit model views, groups, dimensions or labels. You just have to select the object, press ENTER, and start editing!
