Scaling the wall: a climbing gym comes to life in SketchUp

An advantageous member of the DAJ design team, architect Ryan Costner has completed many commercial and residential projects that anyone would be thrilled to call their own. A Colorado native, the latest EVO Rock + Fitness climbing gym in his backyard is his latest endeavor. In a community where climbing is a passionate hobby for many, I asked him how SketchUp helped him create another project that he could be immensely proud of.

FutureHAUS: A hypothetical future home derived from real research

Every day I see wild concept videos of futuristic homes. Last week, I saw a floating pod that you could live in. The bedroom was underwater and your living room was up top. A couple of years ago, someone on the SketchUp team watched this video which led is to us making a digitally fabricated Wikihouse.

I love insane, ridiculous, and forward looking concepts of the future. Not being bound by budgets, design norms, and consumer demand can allow for anyone's creativity to produce some amazing ideas.
